"Funcom can confirm that some of the female models in the game have had the size of their breasts changed. This is due to an unintended change in data that was introduced in an earlier patch, data which controls the so-called morph values associated with character models and the size of their respective body parts," Funcom representatives wrote in a recent forum post. "We are working on a fix for this and your breasts should be back to normal soon."

Of course, shipping a million units is one thing, getting players to subscribe for more than a month or two is the real success metric. I've been playing Conan for a couple of weeks now and while the more involved combat and character physicality are welcome MMO innovations I won't be subscribing just yet. For a start my laptop - a decent ram-packed high-end one bought about a year ago - may have finally met its match with Conan. Unlike WoW, which could probably run on an Atari ST* Age of Conan demands the latest hardware to play smoothly at any kind of decent resolution. More importantly Conan is full of zoning. These loading screens between areas, buildings and cities are hugely annoying immersion-breakers.

This is good news for Funcom and Eidos, though it is doubtful that AoC's popularity is swaying competitors like Blizzard and EA. With the new World of Warcraft expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, coming out later this year, the PC gaming world is seeing quite a bit of action in 2008.

In fact, a spokesman of the firm said that a patch correcting the problem has already been sent out to players and they are hoping that things would come back to normal now.

While I love the game as much as the next guy and want to believe in what the developers are saying, I'll have to wait for these fixes to go live and see if they really improve the performance of the sieges.

Any fears that Funcom and publisher Eidos may have had about their title being overlooked by gamers has just been relieved; it has been announced that more than 100,000 gamers put themselves forward for the beta over the course of the weekend, with 50,000 signing up in the first 24 hours.

Most of the game adheres to typical MMORPG formula (questing, socialising and crafting), but combat is strikingly original and addictive.
