At first glance, Prince of Persia is easily the most eye-catching game of 2008. There were games with more anticipation - Metal Gear Solid 4, Gears of War 2 or Grand Theft Auto IV - but they had a built-in fan base with characters that are recognizable the instant that you see them.

SBK-08 Superbike World Championship Updated Hands-On

Last year's official SBK game was a successful outing for developer Milestone, and a game that managed to cater to both the simulation and arcade markets. This year's title makes the jump to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on June 1, and we got our hands on a preview copy for the latter format. When the original Line Rider first hit the Internet in 2006, its simplicity and lack of a real goal gave it the feel of a toy rather than a game. All you really had to work with was a rudimentary line-drawing tool and a scarf-wearing guy on a sled who would gleefully submit himself to the forces of gravity. BattleForge Hands-On

BattleForge is a new game from developer EA Phenomic that takes a real-time approach to the complex deck-building and unit-balancing strategy of card battle games. Having previously developed the notable SpellForce series, EA Phenomic knows its way around the RTS battlefield and is aiming to mix things up a bit with BattleForge.

It's been a roller coaster year for former Flagship Studios CEO Bill Roper. After overseeing the October 31, 2007, launch of Hellgate: London, he looked on as it struggled to carve out a niche in the market. However, despite decent reviews, the title never gained traction.
